CSFI Round-tables
The CSFI holds 80-90 round-table meetings a year at which topical issues are discussed in an informal, neutral setting. These are attended by finance practitioners, regulators, academics and members of the professions. The meetings provide a forum for robust discussion, and cut across the usual divides in financial markets (between regulators and regulated, competitors, and public policy makers and money-makers).
Sponsors are invited to all our events, as well as to dinners which are occasionally held for high level guests.
All meetings (unless otherwise stated) are held under the Chatham House rule.

The City Debate: at the Mansion House, February 28, 2013
The City Debate has been going for around 15 years. This year, we agreed (with the help of CISI) to join the Futures and Options Association in organizing and running the black-tie, gala event.
The motion was straightforward: “The City risks disaster if the UK disengages from Europe”.
Speaking in favour of the motion were:
- Elmar Brok, a leading German MEP who did not mince his words; and
- Anthony Hilton, Evening Standard columnist and one of the UK’s best known financial journalists.
Speaking against, we had:
- Daniel Hodson, a leading City figure in the campaign for an in-out EU referendum; and
- Tim Loughton MP, the Eurosceptic MP for East Worthing and Shoreham.
The debate went extremely well. The panellists - helped on by the Chair, Angela Knight (and the audience) - got stuck in to a challenging motion with verve and plenty of humour. We hope to do it again next year - bigger and better. Please keep it in mind and let us know if you wish to be put down for a seat, table, or headline sponsorship (please phone: 0207 621 1056, or email: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
